John Leon's "Saint Eric", Bronze, $3,400
This is a portrait of the jazz musician, Eric Dolphy, an extremely dedicated artist who died of illness at 36. He was called saintly by many of his peers. He would practice constantly, even during breaks in his performances. There have been times, while playing music (even at my poorly developed level), that I have felt myself soaring. This piece is about that disembodied, mystical feeling.
