In addition, Pat coordinates the music for all DHR special events, from the hiring of musicians to the selection of music. As our Keyboard Specialist, Pat is responsible for DHR Music's keyboard department. He is in charge of sales and works directly with the manufacturers we represent, including Hammond and Kurzweil.
Pat has spent his lifetime committed to the music industry. Beginning as a lighting designer for a rock band at age 15, Pat moved to keyboards and began writing music for the band. As his musical interests evolved toward jazz, he later played with legendary Cincinnati tenor saxophonist Jimmy McGary. He was also the original house pianist of the Blue Wisp Jazz Club in Cincinnati upon its opening in 1979. He went on to learn the intricacies of piano restoration and tuning at The Player Piano Shop. Later, he decided to aspire to even higher goals and enrolled at the University of Cincinnati College - Conservatory of Music, where he was awarded the Bertha Langhorst Werner Scholarship in composition. In 1984, he completed his bachelor's degree in Music at CCM, and began his experiments in composing and arranging, utilizing the influences of the music of Charles Mingus, Frank Zappa, James Brown, Sun Ra and John Coltrane, among countless others. In 1987, after returning from a four-year stay in Pensacola, FL, Pat formed his 13-piece PsychoAcoustic Orchestra, an eclectic big band that released two CDs in the mid-90s. Today, they continue to perform regularly at Cincinati's Blue Wisp Jazz club. They are also in the process of creating a new CD. Pat continues to perform as a freelance musician as well.
